Ask the question you’re stuck on.
Get a short animated video that explains it, with the sources it came from. About a minute.

Throw a ball sideways and it keeps the same sideways speed.
From question to video
Step 1
Ask
Type the question you are stuck on, in your own words. The one from the lecture you zoned out of, or the one the textbook made worse.
Step 2
Watch
Under a minute later you get a short animated explanation, captions on, built around the idea itself rather than someone talking at a camera.
Step 3
Review
Your notebook brings each video back one, three, seven, fourteen and thirty days after you made it, so it sticks before the exam.
Two ways to see it
A video, or a model you can turn
Two real ones, made by Isotoon from these questions.
Made to study from
A video you can trust the night before an exam, not one you have to fact-check yourself.
- Every factual claim is checked before anything is drawn.
- Every video lists its sources, so you can go deeper or cite them.
- Captions are always on, so it works in the library with no sound.
- No feed and no autoplay. A video ends when the explanation does.
- Videos are private to your account. Nobody else sees what you asked.
Any subject
The idea, moving
Each video draws the thing the question is about and makes it move, so you see why, not just what.
- ChemistryWhy does salt dissolve in water?
- PhysicsWhy does a pendulum keep the same beat?
- BiologyHow does a neuron send a signal?
- EngineeringHow do gears trade speed for force?
- MathWhat does a derivative actually tell you?
Keep asking
One question leads to the next
Ask a follow-up under any video. It picks up where the video left off, as its next part.
- Part 1Why does a pendulum keep the same beat?
- Part 2Ask a follow-up
- Part 3Ask a follow-up
Ask next
A chain holds three parts. Ask a new question to keep exploring.

Make your first videoQuestions
Before you start
- What is Isotoon?
- Isotoon is a study tool for high school and college students. You type the question you are stuck on and it turns it into a short animated explanation, with the sources it came from.
- What can I ask about?
- Anything you are trying to understand: a concept from lecture, a step in a proof, a process from the textbook, a term on the study guide. Ask it the way you would ask a friend who already gets it.
- Is it accurate enough to study from?
- Every factual claim in the script is checked before anything is drawn, and every video lists the sources it came from. Use those to go deeper, and check anything your class covers differently.
- Does it work for AP, IB and college courses?
- Yes. Ask about anything from AP Biology or IB Chemistry to a college calculus, physics or economics course. It explains the idea behind the question; check anything your class covers differently.
- What is a 3D interactive?
- A model you can turn, step through and tap, with notes for each step, for things that are easier to see in three dimensions: a cell, an engine, the electron transport chain. 2D and 3D interactives are part of Pro.
- How long is a video?
- Up to thirty seconds on Basic and up to sixty on Pro. Captions are always on, and there is no feed or autoplay: a video ends when the explanation does.
- How does review work?
- Your notebook lists videos to rewatch one, three, seven, fourteen and thirty days after you made them, because coming back after a few days is what makes it stick.
- How much does Isotoon cost?
- Your first video is free and nothing is saved from it. After that, Basic is $20 a month for animated videos up to 30 seconds, and Pro is $50 a month for videos up to 60 seconds plus 2D and 3D interactives. New subscribers get one 7-day free trial.
- Who can see my videos?
- Only you. Videos are private to your account, there are no comments or messages, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
- Who is Isotoon for?
- High school and college students studying for exams.
